Alyssa Sluder, M.A., LPC- Intern
Supervised by Liz Lawrence
B.S., Psychology, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX
M.A, Professional Counseling, Dallas Baptist University, Dallas, TX
Alyssa grew up in the Austin area, with family and friends both being a high priority in her life. She was involved in the youth group and always felt very poured into by people in her church and her life who showed her that they cared and were not going to let her walk through the hard seasons of life alone. This realization sparked her desire to be that person for others; walking through hard moments in life and being a safe place for them to come to.
Throughout her time at Texas A&M, Alyssa volunteered as a YoungLife leader, working with high school students and gaining their trust in order to be a mentor to them and speak into their lives. After graduation, she pursued her masters in counseling at Dallas Baptist University, where she completed her practicum by working with a college-aged population and adults as well. She worked with clients struggling with a wide variety of issues such as but not limited to, anxiety, family issues, self-worth and believing lies about self, grief, and relational issues.
Alyssa has the hope that her clients will get to truly know themselves throughout their time in counseling, not be afraid to dive deep and look at different seasons of their lives, and realize what some of the lies are that may be narrating their lives currently. She desired for her clients to have a healthy view of self, which will allow them to enter into healthy relationships with those around them.
