Qualification/Experience

 

Mike has lived in Austin since 1996. He has worked in several facets of the mental health field over the past 30 years. These have included in-patient treatment centers for children, adolescents and adults, EAP services, Travis County juvenile justice services, substance abuse treatment, and State of Texas mental health services.

Mike feels called to serve individuals, couples and families within a biblical framework. Having had personal experience with divorce and single parenting, Mike feels led to minister especially to those who are experiencing similar challenges and struggles. Mike also has a heart for increasing awareness of Mental Health issues and challenges within the local church. He has assisted in organizing and co-leading Family Grace* support groups within his church. These groups provide support and education for those within the church who have a family member living with a mental health illness.
*Family Grace is a division of Mental Health Grace Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing awareness and acceptance of and education about Mental Health illness and challenges within the church.
