Vanessa Jackson, M.A.B.C., LPC, EMDR, CSAT-Candidate
B.F.A., Communication Design, Southwest Texas State University, San Marcos, TX
M.A.B.C., Counseling, Dallas Theological Seminary, Dallas, TX
Vanessa grew up a military BRAT, spending most of her childhood in Turkey and Germany, moving every 2-4 years. She completed her Bachelors in Communication Design at Southwest Texas State University in 2001, a month after Sept 11th. The art industry in Austin bottomed out and Graphic Design jobs were hard to come by so Vanessa took on various administrative positions in various churches and eventually at an engineering firm. It was there that she acquired experience working in Process Administration and Quality Improvement.
After a divorce and difficult financial hurdles, she decided to go back to school as a single parent of two kids, then 3 and 5 years old, and attend Dallas Theological Seminary. It was during this time that she met her husband and his two children, they dated and were married a few years later. Blending their family, working as a Chaplain full time, and completing school, she graduated with honors and obtained a Masters in Biblical Counseling Dec 2015.
Vanessa's personal experience, mixed with her professional experience and training, makes her a great fit for anyone tackling identity, purpose and direction. Her specialty is working with single parents going through difficult transitions, co-parenting, and self-doubt. She is EMDR trained and CSAT certified, specializing in Betrayal Trauma. Vanessa loves working with couples who are motivated to grow together, is both Prepare & Enrich and SYMBIS certified, as well as leads the High Conflict Couples Class at the south office location.
In her free time, Vanessa swims, paints, and loves spending quality time with her husband and four children. She lives in the Lakeway area and is attending Life Austin Church in Southwest Austin TX.
